Technical Notes
Background context
- CDS > EDI > EDI records layout 06-2020.pdf is the latest document standards
- The EDI here likely emerged in the 60s, where this was originally used for Trucking; HUD saw these standards and attempted to implement something similar
- IDIS doesn’t usually change their standards, but if they did, we’d in theory have to change every directory. The usually add things here and there, and customers then tell us what we need to add.
Onboarding a company to IDIS
- Every time we onboard a new customer, we have to send a formal letter to Walter Hope at HUD (been there since 2009, main contact)
- There is very specific format to send. We can use one of the templates from one of the other jurisdictions (e.g. SLE). We have to change fields like:
- Grantee Name
- TIN number for the city
- EDI contact name
- ISA Grantee Sender Interchange ID
- HUD Grantee GS02
- Walter will acknowledge this request.
- Then, we need to execute 3 test runs
- e.g. testrunSLE.pl
- set
- cy=1, for cycle 1 and fill out the other fields from the top
- countyCodes —> we have to Google these and get them
- give 3 random project numbers
- We get activity numbers back as a response
- Then we set cy=2 and set the new activity numbers and re-run the code
- repeat with cy=2
- repeat with cy=3
